Experiment 3: The Valley.

Styx Valley of the Giants, Tasmania, Australia.

The Styx Valley, or 'Valley of the Giants' is home to the tallest hardwood trees in the world. Located 70km west of Hobart, the vast Eucalyptus forests are comprised of some of the oldest trees on earth, with many of them being over 400 years old, spanning over 25 storeys high and having trunks up to 5m wide at the base. However, despite this, the rich and resilient nature of the valley's trees has seen between 300 and 600 hectares of the natural forest logged each year for timber production. At this rate, the forest will be completely destroyed within 3 generations.

Take-Two Interactive Software Inc.

Facebook continues its conquest of the planet. There are more than two billion global Internet users, according to an industry source, and Facebook stated that its goal is to connect all [of them]. "At this point it's all about 'Grand Theft Auto:V' and the potential earnings power that this game has." Hickey said. "And we think that the Street is under-appreciating the how much profitability it could drive for the overall company." The Coca-Cola Company has always stood for optimism at times of change and progress around the world. Coca-Cola has proudly been there to refresh, invest, partner and bring hope for a better tomorrow.

The Coca-Cola Company is the world’s largest beverage company, led by Coca-Cola, the world's most valuable brand, [the company] rank[s] among the world's top 10 private employers with more than 700,000 system employees. Growth in MAUs depends on our ability to retain our current users, re-engage with inactive users, and add new users, including by extending our reach across mobile platforms. Take-Two Interactive Software raised its revenue forecast for fiscal 2013. The company expected a "strong performance" in 2013 due to its upcoming releases and an aggressive development pipeline, Strauss added. “We continue to invest in growing our user base, particularly in markets where we are relatively less penetrated. We expect MAU growth will benefit from increases in worldwide Internet users, in particular as a result of increasing broadband penetration and usage of mobile devices in developing markets.”

Experiment 2: Final Model.

Final Submission.

Resolved SketchUp Model

Final Cry Engine Captures

The model demonstrates 'Additive Fluidity and Movement' through creating a space which is to be moved through. The basic architecture is 3 main spaces (lower, upper and the viewing podium) which are linked through stairs and ramps.

The path of the user moving through the space is dictated by the stairs and ramps and is a linear and natural progression through the architecture. The concept of 'adding something to nothing' is seen through the large overhead structures which create dimensions and 'add' to the space.

The cut-out detail on the lower space and viewing podium are freeformed details which follow no particular path. They add a dimension to otherwise plain walls/balustrades and resemble human movement through their fragmented arrangement.

Experiment 1 Submission

Final SketchUp Model.

This is the final model I have developed in Google SketchUp for this submission. I have altered the spaces from last week slightly and completely redesigned the gallery space on the ground plane. This was to allow for a greater level of resolving in the form of interior details and creating movement and circulation paths through and joining the different spaces. I have used my stairs to create these circulation paths and have further developed my textures by editing them in Photoshop and importing them to my model in key spaces.

Because my file was too large to upload to the Google Warehouse, I have uploaded the file for download to file sharing site '2shared.com'. I tried to strip textures and return the model to its simplest form, however this did not reduce my model to the 10mb file limit. Please see the link below for access to this file:
